Android Wear smartwatches now play Game Boy Color games
Because the Game Boy wasn't small and awkward enough
This probably isn't what Samsung and Apple had in mind when they spent millions developing smartwatches, and wearable tech skeptics aren't going to be swayed by a 16-year-old handheld reborn on the wrist.
But that hasn't stopped tech hacker Corbin Davenport from successfully running Game Boy Color games on his Samsung Gear Live.
Handy stuffThe small screen games are actually pretty acceptable, given that they were never that big to begin with. Controls would be the natural sticking point, but Davenport even managed to hook up the emulator to his MOGA gamepad.
This is the same guy who previously got Windows 95 running on his smartwatch, and also managed to sledgehammer Minecraft Pocket Edition into this small wrist space.
As we discussed, it's unlikely you're going to shell out on a smartwatch for a Game Boy Color emulator here, but on a more positive note we're seeing the fledgling efforts of the Android Wear community delving into the new platform.
And that's actually quite exciting, given the fast and fun progress they're clearly making. Imagine what the scene will look like in a year's time.
