PG's top moments of the week - Angry Birds Transformers, iOS 8 downgrade...
|

Every week, Pocket Gamer provides a weekly digest of the most important and popular stories from these digital pages.

This week, Angry Birds Transformers went into soft launch in New Zealand, so we got to have a go with this madcap auto-runner, physics-puzzler mashup.

We also discovered the best pause screen on mobile.

Do you like puzzle games? Silly question. Everyone likes puzzle games. Here are 24 of the best on iPhone and iPad. Don't like puzzle games? What's wrong with you. Oh alright then, have 10 great board games on Android.

Plunder Pirates

We also shared tips for Plunder Pirates, talked to EA about SimCity BuildIt, and compared World of Tanks to its Android counterpart Company of Tanks.

And we downgraded our iOS 8 device to iOS 7 and made our very own gamebooks in inklewriter.

We also swung by EGX to see some mobile games. Most of our previews will pop up next week but here's Haunt the House: Terrortown for iOS as an early treat.

RGB Express

In new releases, we got reverse reverse-tower defence game Anomaly Defenders (iOS and Android), barmy accident sim Turbo Dismount (iOS), and package puzzler RGB Express (iOS).

Plus, zippy driving game Air Race Speed, hokey room escape B-movie Escape the Hellevator (iOS and Android), and deception dueller Smarter Than You (iOS).

As well as free to play hucksters Kill Shot (iOS and Android) and Epic Island (iOS)

Too many games to choose from? Well we picked the three best Android games, and the more-than-three best iOS games

Smash Bros

I've been playing Super Smash Bros on 3DS in about every spare second I can find. This week, I collected all my thoughts and wrote them down in something we in the business call a "review". Excuse the jargon!

Meanwhile, Danny did a - in layman's terms - wordy brain think on Level-5's Fantasy Life.

In the world of news, we would be remiss not to mention something about bendgate (or bendghazi). And Square needs you to make some noise for Final Fantasy on Vita.

Around Steel Media

One big ol’ Editor’s Choice winner (Goblin Sword) led the way this week at 148Apps, but lots of other reviews followed, including Cursed Treasure 2, Leaf on the Wind, and Robot Rundown. See it all right here.
