Yes, it's really called that

If there's one thing I like about Hothead Games's Kill Shot, it's its honesty.

With a title like "Kill Shot", at least you know what you're getting, I guess.

It's a first-person shooter that focuses on challenge-based marksmanship. You're presented a number of very short missions to take on that test your shooting accuracy and reaction speeds.

An example would be shooting two enemy soldiers out of a group of five with a sniper rifle. There are also missions based upon using machine guns, shotguns, and other customisable weaponry.

For these challenges, you're locked to a small area in which you can only move sideways to line up your shots. Yes, like a crab. Luckily, you don't have to take cover as, at least in the missions I've played, the enemies don't fire back.

In fact, the enemy AI is hilarious. You can shoot a bullet from a very loud sniper rifle that scuffs a guy's nose, and he'll only look around bemused before carrying on his way.

If the enemy does spot you, all they seem to do is run around in large circles, taking cover behind rocks, anyway. They have guns but, apparently, they're just for show.

Still, I won't deny that landing a headshot on a distant enemy, triggering the slow-mo bullet cam can be satisfying. I mean, when isn't shooting big guns in a game not satisfying to some degree? Rarely.

Kill Shot is the kind of game that I'm sure gun fetishists will appreciate. Especially as you can make your gun look pretty and purchase different attachments for it.

There are 160 missions, 20 different weapons to dress up, a "Watch and Share" video feature, power-ups, and achievements to earn.

Kill Shot

For those who aren't fond of the nagging of free to play games, well, you may not be so enthused with Kill Shot. It's a game that often throws limited time deals at you, trying to get you to part with your cash.

And those of you looking for a shooter that does something more interesting than just shooting, I doubt you'll get much out of this.

That said, Kill Shot is free to play, so you can try it out yourself by downloading it on the App Store [download] and Google Play [download] right now.
