If the internet is to be believed – and I have no reason to doubt it – ninjas and pirates are the fiercest of enemies.

That's the idea behind Ninja Raft, which has just hit the New Zealand App Store. That means it should be out in the UK at midnight tonight.

The game is a twist on the tower defence template. You're building a raft, adding coins, traps, and lumps of wood to make your base.

This raft then floats towards a finish line. As it does it's beset by groups of pirates. You need to send your ninjas to deal with them before they steal your gold and make a mess of your makeshift boat.

A ninja will always beat a pirate in a one-on-one fight, but soon the pirates are ganging up to grab your loot. Later in the game you can add spiky floor pieces, cannons, and other weapons to hold back the pirate tide.

If that sounds like the sort of thing you might like to spend 69p / 99c on, then keep an eye on the App Store at midnight tonight.
