Out at midnight: Mikey Boots is a flappier take on the Mikey series for iPad and iPhone

Mikey Boots has just swooped onto the New Zealand App Store, which means the rocket-shoe powered third entry in the Mikey series should be hitting the UK at about midnight tonight.

Unlike previous games in the series, this time around you're floating through the air in your titular boots. Tap the right side of the screen to move up and right, and tap the left side of the screen to move up and left.

You need to guide Mikey through a series of tricky mazes, dodging spikes, lava, balls of energy, and rockets. There are a lot of rockets.
