Spooklands is a good looking one-finger blaster that's just hit the New Zealand App Store. By our calculations that means it should be winging its way to the UK at midnight tonight.

The game sees you controlling a plucky hero who's beset on all sides by vile creatures. There are giant spiders, monstrous frogs, and plenty of deadly shadows.

You tap to fire whatever weapon you've got equipped. Holding down a finger then releasing performs a more powerful attack. You're pushed around by the recoil from your shots. And that's all you've got.

It's surprisingly addictive, and surprisingly fun. There are three worlds to unlock, new power-ups to discover, and plenty of quick-fire violence to get your teeth into.

When the game hits the UK later today it'll set you back 69p / 99c. And we reckon that's a damn fair price.
