The best iPhone and iPad games this week - Pako, Flick Knights, Size DOES Matter

Every Friday, Pocket Gamer offers hands-on impressions of the week's best new iPhone and iPad games.

Pako

My favourite aspect of the original Driver games on PS1 were how totally reckless the cops were as they pursued you. Pako recaptures that spirit.

It's a car-chase simulator that lasts only seconds at a time. Pure, cruel, and brash seconds, that is.

With no brakes and no way to control the accelerator, your task is to steer. Hit a tree you'll crash. Game Over. Hit a kerb you'll explode. Game Over. And that's how it goes.

Learn the routes, get better, and get beaten into submission until you eventually out-steer the cops. Good luck.

MOBAs aren't usually my kind of game. However, Flick Knights's simple controls and turn-based asynchronous multiplayer mode drew me in.

You control a bizarre squad - a mix of loony animals and humans - and attempt to flick them over to your opponent's base. That's not all: each of your team members have unique powers to disrupt your opponent or push you forward.

Flick Knights could work as a fast-paced action game. But it's not, it's quite a relaxing game to play, and one you can fit in around your schedule.

Not enough games let me be competitive while respecting my time.

Music and dodging: will that concoction ever bore me? I highly doubt it.

Size DOES Matter is an energetic dodging game. It's also very tricky. You need to have razor sharp reactions to beat this devilish dodger.

The task is to move a set of blocks through fast-moving gauntlet. One thumb changes your position while the other changes your size.

Luckily, as hard as Size DOES Matter gets, the music is absolutely fantastic. It really inspires you with the vigor you need to attempt again and again to beat your score and unlock more levels.
