2D fighter Skullgirls Encore announced for PS Vita and PlayStation 4

A new console edition of the popular 2D fighting game Skullgirls is headed to the PS Vita and PlayStation 4, titled Skullgirls Encore.

Set for release later this year, Skullgirls Encore will launch complete with all stages and DLC characters, plus "All Play" multiplayer, an art gallery, and PlayStation TV support.

Also in the works by Lab Zero Games is Eliza, an upcoming DLC character. Eliza, an ancient Egyptian-themed night club singer, draws power from "charitable" blood drives that she secretly uses to fuel her parasitic youth. She is voiced by Michelle Ruff.

Like all of Skullgirls' DLC characters, Eliza will be free for a limited time following her official release this Summer on PlayStation 3.

If you're at EVO 2014, the Lab Zero team invites you to enter their side-tournament for Skullgirls. The starting pot is $5,000, with Sony providing PlayStation 4 consoles as part of the first and second place prizes.

There is no word on pricing or exact release date yet for Skullgirls Encore.

For now, you can watch a preview of Eliza's work-in-progress move set below, or check out some concept art for additional characters Beowulf and Robo-Fortune on the PlayStation blog.
