Guardians of the Galaxy mobile game outed by Malaysian soft launch
A beat 'em up / RPG hybrid
To promote its upcoming film, Disney has been working on Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon, also based on the Marvel comic series.
The game, which will launch for iOS (and probably Android), recently received a limited beta release in Malaysia on iOS.
The game is a side-scrolling beat 'em up, following the adventures of a motley crew of interstellar superheroes. It uses gesture-based touch controls to control combat and navigate through its comic book-like cutscenes.
Players can follow the Guardians story in the Battle Mode campaign, or focus on the fight with their customized band of space heroes in Arena Mode.
RPG elements like inventory, questing, and leveling systems seem to be in place as well, complete with skill trees and item shops.
You can get a better look at what the game has to offer in the following sneak peek trailer. Which is a whopping hour long. At what point does a "sneak peek" stop becoming a peek?
Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon will be available for free when it launches worldwide. The final release date has not been unannounced - we'll let you know when we hear more.
