Nitrome has announced that its next mobile game will be 8bit Doves. The action tapper, which was a product of the #nitromejam game jam, is set to hit iOS and Android in the not-too-distant future.

The game is already playable on the Nitrome website if you like your entertainment browser based. You play a drowsy man who's flying about an enclosed level collecting doves.

It's simple to play, with two buttons controlling your hectic and often disastrous flight around the retro-styled scenery.

Once you've collected all the doves, you move on to the next level. It's a similar sort of experience to playing Flappy Bird, but there's a little more depth to proceedings here. And less pipes.

The mobile version of the game is set to feature three different level packs. The first one will be all the challenges from the browser version of the game, with the other two featuring all new creations.

Apparently there'll be new features added as well, although what they'll actually be remains to be seen.

We do know that the game will be a paid, premium product though. And that Nitrome is aiming to release it on the App Store and the Google Play Store.

Nitrome has said it'll be posting regular updates as we get closer to the game's launch, so hopefully we'll be able to lavish you with some more details in a few weeks.

In the meantime, check out the super brief announcement trailer above, or go have a poke at the browser version of the game to see what you can expect.
