At first glance Super Ccatch looks a lot like Breakout, in that you control a nondescript glowing paddle at the bottom of the screen. But it's like a brutal twitch-generation version of Breakout in which you're simply pelted with shapes until you die.

There are two rules: avoid shapes that are not the same colour as your paddle, and collide with ones that are. Every time you hit a like-coloured shape the base of the playfield goes up, and once it gets high enough you get to the next level and it returns to the bottom.

Sometimes a line rakes down the screen, changing the colour that you're aiming for. And when you hit a mis-matched shape the base of the playfield drops to the bottom of the screen, or off it, ending your go. And that's the entire game. If you like flowy, twitchy, glowy arcade casual games you probably ought to download it.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is a game to be savoured. A slow burn of quest after quest, each a little more compulsive than the last.

It's not just about slashing monsters into bits though. It's about keeping your swords sharp, grabbing the components you need for that next piece of armour, and mixing together herbs and mushrooms to make potions.

Throw in four player co-op over WiFi, and enough gameplay to keep you playing for hundreds of hours, and you're left with a game that's well worth its price tag.

If you've never played a Monster Hunter game, this is a great place to start. Especially if you've got an MFi controller with dual analogue sticks.

Buzz Killem mashes a bunch of arcade ideas into a bewilderingly fast 2D arena shooter. Its cruel, its chock full of alien violence, and it wraps a tight compulsion loop into its two minute fights.

There are tough challenges to try and complete, disguises to unlock, and heavy weapons to upgrade. And it's all wrapped in a gorgeous pixel-art package that's hard to resist.

The controls are smooth as well, and the backdrops to your battles are as busy as the violence. It's not fresh, but it's polished enough that that doesn't matter.

If you've ever wanted to gun down some saw-wielding aliens while dressed in a blonde wig, then it's well worth checking out.
