Warhammer-based sports strategy game Blood Bowl is tackling iPad and Android tablets in early July

Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide Studio have announced that the latest adaptation of Games Workshop's sports strategy game Blood Bowl will arrive on iPad and Android tablets in early July.

Blood Bowl started off life as a boardgame in 1987 and has been going strong since.

It plays like turn-based American football, except the teams consist of Warhammer's Orcs, Dwarves, Skaven, and the rest of the ugly brutes.

Cyanide has previously brought Blood Bowl to consoles, PC, and even the DS and PSP back in 2009.

This upcoming tablet version is a reworking of that old game with the gameplay reworked for touchscreens. So, if you did enjoy that previous adaptation of the boardgame, the good news is it's practically the same one.

You'll still be weighing up the strengths and weaknesses of each fantasy race when forming your team. There's still a Campaign that'll lead you up to the Blood Bowl, too.

The other modes include a quick play single player option, and multiplayer.

In multiplayer you can play "Hotseat" on the same tablet with a friend. Or you can enter into online matches against players on iPad, Android tablets, and even PC.

We'll let you know when Blood Bowl is available to purchase for iPad and Android tablets in the following weeks. There's more information on its website.
