Updated on July 3rd, at 6:35: 232 tells us that this is a soft launch, exclusive to New Zealand for now. The game will go global on August 1st.

Epic Eric will, however, be available everywhere today for GameStick owners. I'm sure they're both very excited.

Epic Eric has just hit the App Store in New Zealand, which means it should be out in the UK at midnight tonight.

We first saw the game last year at the Big Indie Pitch event at Apps World, where we thought it was good enough to deserve a place on our list of the six stand-out games from the event.

The game is a one touch platformer that sees you guiding a plucky knight through a series of increasingly complicated levels.

There's a princess to rescue at the end, but you can swap characters and play as the princess instead if you prefer.

It looks good too, with some smooth-edged cartoon graphics and endearing little sprites.

The game should be hitting UK shores later today, and when it does it'll set you back £1.49 / $1.99. Which sounds like a fair deal to us.
