[Update] Out now: Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake is a cute puzzler, with some Zelda-inspired secrets
Updated on June 26th, at 17:14: Surprise! Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake is now available on Android, too. It costs £2.49 / $4.99 on Google Play.

We also reviewed the game, gave it a Silver Award, and called it "a funny and charming puzzle collection, with lots of secrets to uncover, that's only let down by some finicky controls".

Speaking of secrets, we've started work on our monster walkthrough for this game. We've finished Nogport Meadow* and found some bonus costumes. More next week.

Move over Monsters Ate My Condo, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, and ZX Spectrum musical management game Rockstar Ate My Hamster. There's a new show in town.

This one's called Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake, and features Niko and his sugary saga of vengeance against the Booglins who nicked his icing-topped treat. Which mainly means trekking across Gogapoe Island and solving tricky puzzles.

Along the way you'll meet other, less kleptomanical monsters who will help you out and lend new powers (like freezing water, burrowing underground, or smashing ice) during the puzzle segments.

The game also has some elements inspired by Zelda and the like. There are secrets to be found, reasons to backtrack to older levels, intriguing side quests, and a home village area you can explore.

Monsters Ate

We'll have a full review up on the site tomorrow, but until then you can check out the game in our PG First Play video above.

Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake will cost you £2.49 / $3.99 and this Cartoon Network-published game is a universal app. It's coming to Android sometime in the future.
