Plants vs Zombies 2 has been updated with some medieval new content on iOS and Android

Plants vs Zombies 2 has been updated with a bunch of new content, and it's fair to say the Bronze Award-winning lane defence game is now kicking it old school.

The Dark Ages update drops some ye-olde-timey action into the game. There are new undead menaces from back in the day, and a gargantuar that wouldn't look out of place in an episode of Game of Thrones.

The new levels in the update are set during the night, so you'll be able to play around with various fungi and plants that thrive in the gloom. There are apparently gravestones that provide sun and plant food too.

This is only the first part of the medieval themed update as well, so expect more helmet-wearing zombies wielding maces to be stomping onto your device in the not-too-distant future.

The Dark Ages update is live on the App Store [download] and the Google Play Store [download] right now and it won't cost you a single penny to install it.
