Tiny Striker is a beautiful expression of simple touchscreen gameplay. A few choice swipes make you feel more like a football god than any amount of convoluted button presses ever could.
Watching a strike swerve in an almost perfect semi-circle around a wall then smash into the back of the net is a truly joyous experience.
There's not much to the game, but there's a compulsive rhythm to the swipey gameplay all the same. It turns out a ticking clock and a high score to chase is all an arcade kicker really needs.
Little goalsThe game sets you a series of ever-more challenging shots. To begin with it's just you and the goal, but as you score the game drops defenders and a goalkeeper in your path.
A straight swipe up the screen boots the ball forwards. But flicking your finger left or right as you swipe adds some swerve to the shot.
You need to bend it like a physics-hating Beckham to score sometimes. There's a bar sliding away at the bottom of the screen that shows how much longer you have to bag a goal. If you don't score in time it's game over.
Swiping past your high score is a brilliant feeling, and the game is so brief that you'll be able to fit plenty of attempts into even the shortest play session.
Have itTiny Striker is a crisp little slice of brilliant arcade gaming. But it's only a thin slice.
Eventually you will get bored of the flicky, slightly repetitive gameplay. And the adverts, which you can get rid of with an IAP, are a little annoying.
Still, there's enough here to make the game worth downloading. Its brisk, bright, and the cartoon players make the most amazing faces when you accidentally smack a ball into them.
If you're looking for a football game, but don't have any time to plough into one, Tiny Striker will scratch that itch nicely.
