[Update] Out at midnight: Powerpuff Girls - Defenders of Townsville is a licensed Metroidvania from Radiangames
Updated on June 20th at 09:40: Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville is now out on Android as well, if you want to get your Google-y paws on it.

It'll set you back £2.38 / $4.99 [buy] to grab it from the Google Play Store.

Original story follows...

The most surprising thing about Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville isn't that it's an adventure shooter with 'Metroidvania' elements.

No, it's that it's the latest game from Radiangames. Yes, the studio behind such arcade games as the Silver Award-winning JoyJoy and Fluid SE.

Cartoon Network wanted this Powerpuff Girls game to be on a quality par with Radiangames's other titles. Apparently, according to reviews of the PC version, that's what it got.

Defenders of Townsville starts with Mojo Jojo using the Dismember Ray on the superheroine trio. That way, the three of them forget how to use their powers.

You start as Buttercup and need to rescue Blossom and Bubbles. You'll fly across four vast levels fighting robots, four giant bosses, and restoring your powers.

Once you've got your powers back, you can return to previous areas to find secrets.

Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville will be available to purchase for £2.99 / $4.99 from the UK and US App Stores at midnight.
