Twilight Struggle is a big ol' boardgame about the cold war. There are loads of cards and pieces and bits and sometimes you lose them down the sofa or the dog eats them and then you can't play any more.

But Playdek and GMT Games have started a Kickstarter funding campaign to create a digital version of the game and banish all of that to the past. It's already smashed its funding goals as well.

The game is a historical strategy game that's widely regarded as one of the finest collections of sliced up cardboard ever to grace tabletops. This new digital version is set to pack more of a punch as well.

The designers of the original game have created an alternate history expansion called What If? It lets you play through a series of scenarios that could have happened if the cold war had gone differently.

Right now the game is slated for release on iOS, Android, and Windows tablets. It's also heading to the PS Vita after it passed the $100,000 stretch goal it needed to make the shift to handheld in about a day.

Obviously there are loads of reward tiers and all the rest of the bibbles and bobbles that come along with a Kickstarter campaign. You can check them all out by clicking right here.

The developers are aiming to release the game in February next year. We will, of course, keep you updated with any trials and tribulations along the way.
