Perfect Paths is a game that's much cleverer than it looks at first glance. It's ostensibly about moving blocks from A to B, but it adds in a series of different elements to keep things fresh.

There's a pattern to your movements that opens up new possibilities, and the extra abilities you earn as you play mean the puzzles are always fresh.

It might not be the most original idea, but it's built in a way that's satisfyingly robust, and there are extra challenges to pull you back to older levels to see if you could have done them any better.

All in all this is a sharp, neatly put together puzzler that will have you scratching your head for a good few hours.

Path most travelled

The aim of the game is to draw lines to get coloured blocks to their similarly coloured destinations. You draw all the paths, then tap play to see if your concoction of directions is the right one.

Some spaces can't be drawn on, so you'll need to nudge blocks into one-another to cross them. Sometimes you'll need to cross the paths, or time movements just right so the blocks don't get in each other's way.

The blocks move in specific directions first. So blocks heading down will move before blocks heading left. You can use this to your advantage to make sure there are no collisions, and to make sure that there are.

The levels are well designed, and some require serious contemplation. The game is never painfully difficult, but it's certainly gets more challenging as it goes on.

Right turn

Everything looks nice and neat, and there's a solid stylistic theme running through the game that makes it stand out.

The concept in the middle of Perfect Paths isn't that fresh, but everything that's built around it feels new enough that you're unlikely to find it overly familiar.

There are plenty of puzzlers on the App Store, but not all of them are as deep as Perfect Paths. If you're willing to scratch the surface you'll find an entertaining game that opens up more and more as you play.

An entertaining puzzler with a flair of its own, Perfect Paths is an engaging, if not entirely original, way to waste a few hours
