Maybe it's because we’ve been jaded by Hearthstone, but it takes a lot for a collectible card game to catch our eyes these days.
The upcoming free-to-play Monsu, by Finnish outfit Boomlagoon, had no trouble here, however.
Perhaps it's because Monsu mixes side-scrolling platforming with CCG elements - or maybe it's because it lets you cross a llama with a tornado to create a more powerful card.
Oh, who are we kidding? It was totally the tornadic llama.
In Monsu, players progress through levels full of platforming challenges and then match their decks against AI opponents and friends in CCG matches.
But Monsu is more than just a garden-variety platformer crossed with a card battler.
Each character in the expansive cast features a unique backstory and special magical powers for players to collect. Better still, the characters are highly customizable, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding the monster that's right for you.
We don't know too much more about Monsu, other than the fact that you can expect it on the App Store sometime this summer.
We'll keep you posted as we know more.
