Out at midnight: Trainz Simulator 2 lets you build a rail-based empire on your iPad
Trainz to win
Trainz Simulator 2 has just pulled into the New Zealand App Store, that means the super-heavy transport sim should be arriving at platform UK at midnight tonight.
Don't let the playful 'z' fool you, this is about as hardcore as train-based videogames get, and certainly isn't a game for the casual player with little or no time to invest.
There's a huge raft of features available to you here as you build your rail-based empire. And this time round they've been better tweaked to suit the iPad's touchscreen interface.
There's even a multiplayer mode included, which in my head involves duelling to the death with trains instead of swords, but is probably something a little more sedate than that.
Our prime concern with the last Trainz Simulator game for mobile was that it chugged along on even the most powerful hardware. Hopefully that's been fixed, because trains and chugging just don't go together.
If you're a fan of building things, trains, or losing yourself in menus and statistics, then Trainz Simulator 2 is likely to get you all hot under the collar.
The game will cost £4.99 / $6.99 when it lands on the App Store later tonight. Which isn't that much when you consider just how many trains are included.
