I like Ike: GameCube Fire Emblem hero will return in Super Smash Bros 3DS

Fire Emblem favourite Ike will join Marth and return to the new Super Smash Bros for 3DS, director Masahiro Sakurai says.

Ike was the main character in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on GameCube, and one of the two main characters in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn on Wii. He was also in Smash Bros Brawl.

On the Miiverse, Sakurai explained: "Ike's design is based on the hero that appears in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. His sword deals heavy damage in Smash Bros, so this design suits him very well!"

"Rest assured, he can use Aether as well."

But the real question, of course, is: where the hell is Chrom from the Platinum Award-winning Fire Emblem: Awakening?

I mean, Super Smash Bros Melee had Roy, the hero of the most recent Fire Emblem game of the time, The Binding Blade. Then, Brawl replaced him with a more recent Fire Emblem protagonist, Ike.

It would make sense, then, to replace Ike with the most recent Fire Emblem headliner, Chrom. Right? RIGHT?! We might need to start a petition to reverse this injustice. Who's ready to march on Kyoto?

Maybe, just maybe, this will be the first Smash game to contain three Fire Emblem fighters rather than two. If not, we'll just have to make do with the Arena Ferox stage on the 3DS version and cry ourselves to sleep at night.
