Following on from the news in April that Positech's Cliff Harris was planning to port deep strategy political simulator Democracy 3 to iPad, he has confirmed on Twitter that it is "virtually done."

The Democracy series allows players to choose from a variety of real-world government types.

You then have the ability to sample voter types and focus groups; tweak policies and initiatives; and try to survive the ire of an enraged public long enough to see out your term in office.

It has taken the world of armchair politicians by storm, with players equally enamoured by Harris's attention to detail and his staunch defence of smaller developers against bigger rivals.

In a flap

Writing on the Positech blog, Harris has "pretty much decided" that the game will retail for £6.99 / $9.95 [sic] on iPad.

"It's not the sort of game you buy [on] impulse to play on the bus for 10 minutes once. It isn't flappy birds. My impulse purchase market is probably zero," he writes.

He had also called for willing testers to tweet him for the chance of trialling the game. At the time of writing, though, there is no word on whether that offer still stands.

You can expect to see Democracy 3 go live on iPad in the next few weeks. Watch this space for updates.
