iOS + Android + 3DS ...

It's Monday. It's the start of another week. Yep, that means we can offer you another sneak peek at what you can expect in the world of handheld games in the next seven days.

This includes a time travelling X-Men game, two-player dancing, and a graphic novel-style racer.

There is bound to be a few games released this week that catch us by complete surprise, mind. We'll do our best to cover these, too.

Oh, and do note that the dates, platforms, and details of the games below are subject to change.

iOS and Android Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past

The latest X-Men movie comes out this week. Unsurprisingly enough, the tie-in mobile game Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is due on May 22nd. It's a side-scrolling action game that follows Kitty Pryde as she attempts to prevent an event that spells a bad future for mutants.

Earthworm Jim designer David Perry has a new game coming out on May 22nd. We took a look at SXPD last month and fell in love with its graphic novel-style graphics and fast-paced combat racing.

Put on your dancing shoes, as Game Oven's Bounden will be, well, bounding onto the App Store on May 21st. Unfortunately, the Android version has been delayed. However, you can help playtest it, if you want.

OTTTD

Just last week, we told you about OTTTD. It's due to go live on May 22nd on iOS and Android. The title's letters stand for "Over The Top Tower Defence". And that's exactly what you get here. The bodies pile up high as you deploy turrets and recruit engineers, rocketeers, and more to take them down.

Those of you looking for a bit of mystery with your gaming challenge should keep an eye out for Globosome: Path of the Swarm this week. You'll be rolling your globos around, growing new ones, and discovering this strange creature's origins. This intriguing puzzle adventure will be heading to iOS on May 22nd.

Relentless strategy game developer Slitherine will be porting Frontline: Road to Moscow to iOS tomorrow. You'll be commanding the German army as it moves towards Moscow in some of World War II's most notorious battles.

Nintendo 3DS

Picross e4

Jupiter's Picross e4 will arrive on the eShop this week with a price tag of £4.50 / €5.00. The last game in the series we looked at was Picross e2. We thought that one was too similar to the original game - hopefully, e4 has more variation, then.

The highlight of what is a pretty dire week for eShop releases is Double Dragon II: The Revenge on the NES Virtual Console. The original Double Dragon was slow, lacked multiplayer, and wasn't too much fun. You can probably expect the same with this sequel.

PS Vita

Sparkle 2

Slim pickings on Vita this week, unfortunately.

The only release worth mentioning really is Sparkle 2. This was originally a mobile game from 10tons. Essentially, it's PopCap's popular Zuma puzzle game with less of the charm. Exactly.
