Glorious Maximus is a new cartoon gladiatorial combat fighter for iOS and Android

Glorious Maximus turns gladiatorial combat into fast-paced rounds of cartoon violence.

You recruit a fighter, purchase a weapon, and then test your skills in a 2D arena.

To win, you have to push your opponent to the far side of the screen. How? By stabbing and swiping at them. But you have to manage your stamina.

Each attack drains stamina, you see. You can also block, but that really takes a toll on your stamina. And if your enemy is blocking when you attack, it will have no effect.

You can see how a frantic battle of life and death can take place in the video below. But Glorious Maximus is far too easy for me. Well, at first it is.

Just attack like crazy and you'll win. You get three stars for winning quickly AND loads of money. So, you can soon buy weapons with more power, and buy warriors with increased stamina.

Admittedly, I have only played Glorious Maximus for a short time. And I love the bizarre opponents (horse-headed people) as well as the dismemberments and decapitations.

It's just, well, too easy. There's a long way for me to go yet, though, so I'm sure it eventually gets a bit tougher. It's still pretty fun.

You can purchase Glorious Maximus for £1.49 / $1.99 from the App Store [buy] and Google Play [buy] right this second.
