Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has confirmed that his monster hit game will return to the App Store in August.

This news emerged during a conversation Nguyen had with CNBC yesterday.

Nguyen also said that the new version of Flappy Bird will have multiplayer and be "less addictive".

Nguyen pulled Flappy Bird down from the App Store back in February after it had become a huge and unexpected success.

Nguyen stated it was because it had become an addictive product, which he saw as a problem.

Its phenomenal rise in popularity and consequent removal served as the catalyst for thousands of clones on the App Store.

So much so, in fact, that we discovered at one point a new Flappy Bird clone was added to the App Store every 24 minutes.

Suffice it to say, this upcoming new version of Flappy Bird will likely be downloaded by millions. You can bet on it.
