Out at midnight: Classic Amiga platformer Superfrog HD makes the leap from Vita to iOS
Cross the pond
Team17's platforming amphibian is back once again to try his webbed feet on another platform.
That's right: Superfrog HD will be heading to an App Store near you at midnight tonight.
Superfrog originally appeared in 1993 on the Amiga. It represented one of those attempts at creating a popular video game mascot with a corporate tie-in.
As such, Superfrog restored his health with bottles of Lucozade. Yep, the orange sports drink.
That's all gone in this HD version, though. Instead, we have things like reworked levels, HD graphics, and an endless-runner mode called Frog Trials.
The Vita (and PC) version of Superfrog HD that surfaced last year wasn't too bad.
In our review of the Vita version, we said: "While Superfrog hasn't aged well at all, this HD remake is worth splashing out on if you're up for some classic Amiga platforming."
As this is, essentially, a port of the Vita version, we're hoping that the new touchscreen controls don't let the game's classic platforming down.
If you want to take a risk on Superfrog HD for iOS, then you'll be able to download it from the UK and US App Stores at midnight for £1.49 / $1.99.
