Updated on April 24th 2014, at 13:48: Sega has also announced an incoming update for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

On April 29th, you see, Wreck-It Ralph and Metal Sonic will be included in the roster of unlockable characters.

There will also be two new tracks: the beachfront resort from OutRun Bay and an asteroid-filled Galactic Parade track.

Lastly, the new Boss Cup Challenge and World Tour modes will enable you to compete with other players from around the world.

Original story follows...

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Sega's shape-shifting kart racer, has had its price dashed down to nothing at all on iOS and Android.

When we reviewed the game at the start of the year we gave it a Gold Award, calling it "an incredibly slick kart racer that marks a new high point for iOS kart racers and stands as another exemplary console conversion."

And now you can pick all of that up for nothing at all on the Google Play Store [download] and the App Store [download].

It doesn't look like a permanent shift to free-to-play, but there are in-app purchases in the game already. Still, it's definitely worth a go if you're a fan of karts, transforming, or hedgehogs.
