If you're not joining a Clan formed by people you know, it'll obviously make sense to join one where members speak your language and are on the same timezone (or close to it). Otherwise it might make things a little tricky. Also, make sure the Clan is active!

Do not join a Clan and instantly request troops. Worse yet, do not ask for troops, receive them, and then leave.

Donate troops to your fellow Clan members. It's courteous to ask which troops other members prefer. In return, they will ask you the same - so everyone's happy.

Don't ask to become an Elder. This will be awarded to you when other members feel you’ve earned it. Similarly, if you have the privileges don't go promoting new members at the drop of a hat.

Don't be apprehensive about asking for assistance - usually other Clan members are only happy to help. You can return the favor when a new member joins, thereby creating perfect cyclical harmony.

Remain civil in discussions. Try to temper arguments before they get out of hand. Don't kick members out without proper consideration for all sides of the argument (and individuals involved).

Always follow the Clan's rules (some have none, some have many).
