Check the radius of enemy units of a village you intend to take revenge on for possible blind spots.

You can lure Clan Castle troops away with a single well-positioned (strong) attacking unit and then sweep in on the village while they're busy elsewhere.

Remember that clearing out Air Defenses doesn't mean that other threats to Balloons don't exist - remember your enemy's Castle could be housing Archers and Wizards.

While an attacking horde can prove devastating, try to section your invading troops into groups to segregate the fire from your enemy's defenses - a single large group can be unnecessarily reduced by Mortar fire and other splash area type attacks in combination with concentrated single shot attacks.

Plan your army well and try to keep a good mix of abilities: Barbarians, Archers, Goblins, Giants are staple ingredients of successful attacks. For Single Player matches in particular, you can tailor your troop requirements according to a specific level's difficulty so take advantage of that fact.

Check corners of land for buildings and despatch a single troop per building at the start of the battle - not a significant investment and it could make all the difference in getting that 3 Star attack within the time limit allowed.

You can end a Multiplayer attack without deploying troops and you won't be penalised. So if it looks too risky, simply step back.

Single Player missions are easy sources of Gold / Elixir early on. But once it starts to get tricky the rewards are outweighed by troop regeneration costs so you're better off focusing on Multiplayer matches, continue to build up your army and return to 3-star clear the Single Player levels once you're in charge of a more fearsome force.

There is no time limit on Single Player matches so you can take your time and plan your attacks. Use troops sparingly - the first few matches have no Air Defenses so a single Balloon will (eventually) clear the map.

Remember to revisit early Single Player levels with upgraded troops to get a 3-Star rating.

Similarly, revisit Clashers who have previously raided you and pay them a visit with your improved troops.

When assessing another player's village in Multiplayer, remember that empty Storage units aren't always an indication of low Resources. Their Mines and Collectors could be full, and will more than likely be a lot easier to attack / destroy.
