When you see the words "Unreal Engine" in a game's description, you might think of gritty titles like Infinity Blade, Demons' Score, or Bloodmasque.

But one game took the Unreal Engine and used it to create a beautiful, non-violent world of exploration and adventure.

That game, Lili, went on to pick up a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award when it was released back in the fall of 2012 - and now it's dropped its price from $2.99 / £1.99 to 99c / 69p.

Flower child

Lili might not be the most modern or even challenging RPG available on the App Store, but it's a great example of what you can do with a brilliant engine when you play against the expected type.

In Lili, you take control of a free-spirited young girl who wanders onto the quirky island of Geos whilst conducting fieldwork.

She's quickly embroiled in a political struggle with the local residents - native wood spirits, naturally - and must decide between helping them with their problems or completing her research.

In our review of Lili, we praised its "Pixar-like graphics" and called it "a gorgeous game with lots of personality and bundles of charm" but noted that it's "a rather slight and flimsy game" which might struggle to hold your attention for long.

Still, a trip to Lili's island paradise of Geos seems easy to justify at its current sale price of 99c / 69p - so if you want to see what all the fuss was about with this one, or you just dig the idea of playing as a hipster botanist girl, click the black button below to add Lili to your iOS device of choice.
