We completely missed the first Cardinal Quest, way back in 2012.

So as not to make the same mistake twice, consider yourself duly notified of the newly released sequel, Cardinal Quest 2.

This is a streamlined and accessible roguelike RPG where you try to explore various towns and dungeons while fending off all manner of enemies. Foes only move when you do, however, so you're free to plan your next few steps.

There are six classes from which to choose; loot and spells to find and buy; cards to combine; three acts to overcome; and permadeath. Because it just wouldn't be a roguelike without permadeath, now would it.

Cardinal Quest 2 is free-to-play, but you can buy morale (starting at £2.99 / $4.99 for a pack of 10,000) to revive yourself upon death, boost your character between attempts, and unlock new classes early.

You can get it now on iOS for nuthin'. It'll be heading to Android and various other computational systems soonish.
