How's this for a good start to the week: turn-based strategy adventure Braveland has just come out on iOS.

We've been quietly watching Braveland during its development due to its charming cartoon art, and developer Tortuga Team's interest in creating a game "inspired by old-school strategies".

It starts off with bandits ravaging your village's winter stocks. Seeking revenge (and wanting to get your resources back), you and a few peasants head off across the fantasy land.

While there is a simple story, it's the turn-based battles that will be taking up most of your time in Braveland.

The battles take place on a hexagonal battlefield, and the challenge is getting those with pitchforks and daggers up close, while archers and casters stay back.

Using special abilities, recruiting more units, and levelling up are also vital to survival. Along the way you'll encounter bosses as well as regular units.

Braveland isn't the most testing of turn-based battlers (though, I haven't tried hard mode yet), but it's packaged with the adventure and pleasing art. We'll have a full review soon.

Oh, and Android players, Braveland should be on its way to you shortly, too.
