RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is a pocket-sized reboot of the much-loved franchise that's heading to iPad and iPhone 'soon'

What better way to start the week than with news of the revival of a much-loved franchise on mobile.

Everyone likes those, right? I can't think of a single instance in the past few years when the idea of a mobile reboot has backfired.

This time around, it's Atari's RollerCoaster Tycoon getting retrofitted with App Store shininess in the shape of RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile.

Phoenix from the flames

The game will be published by Atari, though it's an Atari that's risen from the ashes of the Atari sell-off.

Sort of like 'zombie Atari', I guess. Or a zombie Atari dressed in dead Atari's skin. Business is confusing.

There's not much to really go on at the moment regarding RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile itself... just a 30-second trailer that you can watch below.

The more eagle-eyed among you may spot some tell-tale signs of a free-to-play system lurking in the depths of the clip. Commence mouth frothing now.

Over on the game's official website, the developer is listed as On5 Games.

Its output includes the Bronze Award-winning multiplayer oddity Indie Pixel and Silver Award-winning cartoon strategy game Spice Invaders.

So, there's some hope on that front, then.

According to the game's website, RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is set to hit the App Store "soon".

We'll be getting some hands-on time with the game at GDC this week, and we'll let you know what we think of it.
