The gorgeous cel-shaded explosions of 17-Bit's previously PS4-only 2D space shooter Galak-Z will soon be lighting up Vita screens the world over.

The Silver Award-winning Skulls of the Shogun was the last game off the 17-Bit conveyor belt. Here's hoping the studio can match that effort with this upcoming Vita conversion.

Galak-Z isn't just a 2D space shooter with distinctive graphics, mind; it also borrows elements from the roguelike genre, you see.

So, yep, you can expect permadeath and procedurally generated levels in this one.

Galak-Z

Every time you leave your mother ship, you run the risk of encountering magma pools and different types of intelligent enemies. You may run into hidden traps on your travels, too, though they can be both a blessing and a curse.

Like in Spelunky, you'll learn how best to play Galak-Z by dying. You'll also be able to play it for a few minutes or a few hours on account of its accessible but deep and endless gameplay.

You can expect Galak-Z to surface on Vita later this year.
