Mines of Mars is a game about mining on the Red Planet. It's also about exploring a vast open world with a pickaxe and a jet pack. And if you're me, it's about accidentally shooting robots.

Whatever it is, it's out right now in New Zealand, which means it'll be surfacing on the UK and US App Stores at midnight tonight.

The game sees you hacking your way through subterranean caverns, digging up new elements to forge into weapons, equipment, and better pickaxes.

There's a lot of Terraria in this one, albeit in a grungy sci-fi setting that's all dust and rickety buildings. And there are giant plants here hiding in corners that will turn you into lumps of gory mulch.

If that sounds like it might be up your galactic avenue, keep an eye on the App Store tonight for Mines of Mars. Once it does surface on Apple's digital marketplace, it'll cost £2.99 / $4.99.
