I thought that the generative audio puzzles of Cadence would be more similar to those in Circuits than they actually are.

Sure, both games involve careful listening to sounds and then re-wiring puzzles.

But Cadence developer Made With Monster Love dares to be much more abstract with its design.

Cadence is also a lot more difficult to explain than EVEN Circuits.

Essentially, you link spheres and squares together with lines, and then send pulses through them to create harmonious sounds, i.e. music.

To solve the puzzles, however, you have to find a musical loop that never ends. I think it's this to which Made With Monster Love is referring when it speaks of Cadence breaking the laws of thermodynamics.

There isn't just one solution for the puzzles in Cadence, by the way. This is why they are as much musical toys as they are abstract 3D models.

Complications aside, Cadence seems to be an elegant and soothing musical puzzler.

You'll hopefully get a much better idea about the nature of Cadence and how it works by watching the trailer for it below.

Cadence will be heading to PC, Mac, and iPad, but its maker hasn't confirmed a release date for it yet.

You can find more information about Cadence on its website.
