The sequel to the Gold Award-winning Royal Revolt! has just stormed onto the App Store. And like 99 percent of games released in 2014, it bears a close resemblance to Supercell's Clash of Clans juggernaut.

Like in the first Royal Revolt! game, you'll spend plenty of time playing a sort of reverse tower defence game here. In effect, you - and an army of soldiers - will attempt to bypass an enemy's troops, towers, and traps on the way to smashing in its front door.

Between sieges, though, you'll also have to strengthen your own castle, hire your own minions, and plop down your own traps to fend off would-be invaders. Which is all a bit Clash of Clans, if I'm being perfectly honest.

Royal Revolt II

Unlike with most copy-and-paste Clash of Clan clones, however, there are some significant differences between Royal Revolt 2 and Supercell's free-to-play phenomenon.

You actually control the hero during bouts, there's a set path leading to your castle that invaders will follow, and the game has full 3D graphics.

You can see exactly what we mean in our PG First Play video above. Or go download Royal Revolt 2 for free on iPhone and iPad and give it a try yourself.

We'll have a full review of the game up on the site in the near future, I imagine.
