Our intrepid globetrotting editor Mark Brown first spotted Shapist on a recent jaunt to Amsterdam for Casual Connect.

He liked it enough to make a video about it and stick it in his round-up of the three best iOS games of the week. High praise, indeed.

Well, you can now give it a bash, too. It's an intriguing shape-shifting puzzler that sees you trying to clear a space on a tightly packed grid.

To begin with, you're sliding fixed shapes around, slotting them into the space around the central door you're trying to free up.

That simplicity doesn't last long, though. Soon, you're dealing with shapes that need to be snapped apart and then rearranged in a new way, and a whole host of other different challenges that will have you scratching your head.

The game has a unique feel that mixes together inspirations from a host of other puzzlers and blends them with some new ideas into something that's fresh and familiar at the same time.

It's great to see a puzzler on the App Store that doesn't feel the need to hold your hand all the time, too. Shapist is a silent antagonist, letting you figure out its nuances on your own terms.

If all of that sounds like something that might make you happy for a brief spell, then head on over to the App Store and pick the game up for £1.99 / $2.99.
