Much like Red, The Blues (as Jay, Jake, and Jim are collectively known) have access to a speed boost for their special power. The uses of their special are very similar, but there are a couple of differences to bear in mind when using this power of theirs.

First, you can use the boost three times. When compared to Red's move, you get less speed and protection in each use, but it does give you a little more flexibility as to how you use it.

You can tap quickly three times for a simple increase in speed down a straight, but personally I like to use the boost to accelerate quicker out of corners than usually possible, or drive up moguls faster. If your kart is destroyed or you run off the track, losing speed in the process, you can also use one of these boosts to get to full velocity rapidly.

As with Red, the boost allows you to jump further to complete Challenge Round requirements or avoid opponents, or to reach Coins and Fruit in mid-air.

Similarly the boost makes you invulnerable for a short period of time, allowing you to pass through obstacles without hindrance, and the increase in speed is enough to ram opponents off the road too.
