Sometimes, cuteness can be unsettling.

Take CreatiuLab's Stubies, for example. It's an upcoming puzzler in which you have to squish wandering podgy Jelly Babies-alikes together to score points.

You'll need to make sure they don't trudge into holes, though. And if two Stubies of different colours barge into each other for long enough, they'll turn to stone. Which is bad.

The further you get into the game, the more obstacles and challenges you'll have to compete with. There are Stubies with bombs for heads, levels surrounded by deadly drops, and pillars that crumble if you bash into them too often.

You'll control everything via swipes and taps. Sometimes, you'll be able to squidge Stubies into the ground to let others walk over them for a bit. Sometimes, they'll wave at you... then you mash them into their clones and watch them die.

There'll be 60 levels (across four different worlds) to work your way through here, with an increasingly steep difficulty curve to keep you on your toes. Yep, you'll definitely need fast fingers to complete the later levels.

The game is slated for release on February 13th. According to CreatiuLab, there will be some IAPs in Stubies, though you probably won't actually need to buy them.

Stubies will be a Universal app, and will set you back 69p / 99c when it surfaces on the App Store next week.
