Sonic's got a scarf now and he's coming back to the 3DS with Sonic Boom
Someone cue up Guile's Theme
Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's perennial poster boy, is ready to show off his edgy new image in an upcoming 3DS and Wii U refresh called Sonic Boom.
It's an all-new Sonic, you see.
He's got a new scarf and some new athletic tape wraps around his old wrists and ankles. Sort of like Sonic meets Uncharted with a brief stopover in The Mummy franchise - but we digress. New Sonic game!
Details on Sonic Boom are a bit light at the moment as the information's just coming from Sega now but we know the 3DS version will be developed by Sanzaru – a name you might recognise from its work on Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
Also, it'll put a firm focus on teamwork between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy.
Sonic Boom is also hitting the airwaves as a TV show, and Kotaku reports that the games will serve as a prequel to the events in the show.
Sounds interesting? Like Sonic with his new Nathaniel Drake look? Then check out the trailer below (which shows off the Wii U footage, courtesy of Nintendo Life) for an idea of what to expect.
