Updated on February 4th at 15:45: Outplay Entertainment say Monster Legacy hasn't been been announced for Android, and is currently only planned for iOS.

We also failed to mention that this will be a free-to-play game.

Those of you after Pokemon for iOS may want to consider keeping an eye out for the forthcoming Monster Legacy game from Outplay Entertainment.

It's a friendly-looking RPG in which you capture, battle, and evolve monsters. I've played it and, yes, it's very reminiscent of Pokemon.

Your ultimate goal here is to explore the land of Arborea and take out the Evil Lord Ardur. To do that, though, you need a toughened party of monsters.

Heroes of honour

So, you'll end up embarking on over 60 quests, performing heroic deeds for people, getting rewarded, and training up your monsters.

The major differences between Pokemon and Monster Legacy are the waiting times and the gem spending.

Imagine Pokemon but with wait timers, then. Got it? Good.

If you don't have enough gems to use a Master Trap (read: Pokeball) in Monster Legacy, for instance, you can spend a few of your pennies to get one during that critical moment.

Monster Legacy

You want to construct a new building in your Monster Ranch but don't want to wait? Throw some money down for gems and coins, and it'll be done in a jiffy.

You'll also get the opportunity to share everything you accomplish with your Facebook friends. That'll be nice for them, eh.

Other than that, Monster Legacy is a pretty good replica of Pokemon. You can even search long grass for random encounters here. Instead of Professor Oak, by the way, you have a Mentor.

Monster Legacy will be heading to iOS "soon". We'll let you know exactly when that is once we know.
