Tackling a burning building without a hose that gushes water seems pretty unfair.

But that's exactly what you do in Pyro Pursuit. Luckily, the one tool you do have is a cannon that fires ladders. It's time to climb.

Pyro Pursuit is quite an unusual endless platformer, as you don't tap the screen to jump, you tap it to place ladders.

The ladders will move back and forth across the level you've climbed up to. Tapping just means the ladder will be fired to the spot you've stopped it on. Your fireproof hero will then automatically attempt to climb it.

Rise to the challenge

Notice I said "attempt". If you don't place the ladder in a position where they can reach it, they may fall to their death.

Pyro PursuitI discovered that you can position the ladder so that your hero can't quite reach it, as their momentum continues as they fall. It's not a preferable technique unless you're a master of twitch reactions, though.

As you climb, you also have to dodge falling anvils, burning ledges, and you may have to rescue people sleeping in their beds.

This adds a need to not just climb up as fast as you can, but also plan on the route you take.

Once you've gone so far up, you'll come to a stage where you need to save cats and heirlooms that are being thrown out of windows. You have a mobile trampoline for these bits.

With more variation to come in your endless climb, Pyro Pursuit is shaping up to be a challenging platformer with a touch of humour.

Pyro Pursuit will be available for iOS and Android soon.
