Eggs mean different things to different people. In The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, the Childlike Empress declares that all eggs hold the potential for new life. To your punk cousin, they hold the potential for messing up a teacher's car.

And at Moonbot Studios, eggs are the potential birthing grounds for flying kittens and panda centaurs. But they need your loving care before they can hatch. Try not to drop more than a few.

Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom is an action arcade game that challenges you to catch and hatch eggs. Oh, it starts off simply, with an egg or two falling gently from the sky. The challenge ramps up quickly, however, and soon you'll be sweating. Rainbows.

Interestingly, Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom has a pretty detailed story that's explained through an in-game movie (watch it - it's enlightening). Once upon a time, two twins were born: a rosy-cheeked miniature Apollo, and a green-skinned goblin with teeth like a kicked-in picket fence.

One day, during a jealousy fuelled existential crisis, the evil twin imprisoned all the good things of the world (hereafter referred to as "joyjoy") in eggs.

You need to help the good twin hatch the eggs and restore joyjoy to the world.

Playing Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom is a bit like dialling a Satanic telephone, as your fingers get tangled up in no time. When an egg falls from the sky, you simply need to tap it and hold. In time, it warms up, hatches, and brings forth joyjoy in the form of kittens, puppies, and happy toasters.

Easy enough - until the eggs begin to rain down like protein-rich apocalyptic hail. Suddenly you find yourself employing all ten fingers (and maybe a toe or two) trying to hold onto your eggs long enough to hatch them all. If you let too many slip by and hit the ground, your mothering experience is over.

To make matters worse, you need to deal with 'Meanie Men' that pop up occasionally. These evil vegetables will thwart your attempts to hatch joyjoy by zapping eggs with lasers, or by simply getting in the way.

Luckily, you can store and 'hatch' capsule prizes that temporarily take the pressure off by automatically hatching eggs instantly, or by holding them safely until you can attend to them. You can also upgrade your own powers, including the ability to hatch eggs faster.

Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom is delightfully nuts. Each stage has an objective for you to meet, but it all kind of takes a backseat to twisting your fingers all over your screen.

In fact, Lollipop 3's action-heavy gameplay ultimately makes the experience pretty shallow. This is a game you'll burn out on quickly - though you'll have a blast for that short amount of time thanks in no small part to the game's frantic pace, colourful graphics, and weird sense of humour.

In other words, count on Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom to provide you with good company, even if it's just through brunch.
