Here's how you know if you want La-Mulana 2 or not. Do you like the sound of Dark Souls, Metroid, and Spelunky combined into one game?

If your answer is "yes", then you'll want to consider supporting La-Mulana 2 on Kickstarter.

You may have never heard of the tough 2D action-adventure La-Mulana before, as it's only available on Windows and WiiWare, for now. Rumour has it that it will soon be coming to Vita, too.

It might be worth getting familiar with the game, though. The reason being the Kickstarter for the sequel has a stretch goal to bring it to either Vita or 3DS. Unfortunately, it's one or the other, not both.

That stretch goal for the handheld ports is far out of reach at the moment, sitting at $1,150,000. The initial funding goal is $200,000, and developer NIGORO still has 32 days to see how much support it can raise for its sequel. So far, it's going well.

Just so you know, La-Mulana 2 is an archaeology-themed action adventure, as is the first game. The sequel has a new protagonist called Lumisa Kosugi, who is on a mission to find the entrance to the ruins of Eg-Lana.

Kosugi's interest in these ruins comes from recent rumours of monster appearances there. Inside, we'll find plenty of treacherous areas, beasts to dodge and fight, and huge bosses known as Guardians.

Sounds like more of the brutal action-platformer that attracted La-Mulana's cult following in the first place. Can't argue with that.
