Get ready to create beautiful destruction in ambient physics-based action game Smash Hit

Mediocre has moved far beyond the simple water physics of Bronze Award-winning Sprinkle Islands with its next game Smash Hit.

The Swedish studio has thrown out the quirky and replaced it with the elegant when it comes to Smash Hit. I mean, nothing says "we're being serious" more than a cold blue filter.

In Mediocre's forthcoming physics-based action game, you will have a mission. And that mission will be to find beauty in destruction. You'll be doing lots of destroying, apparently. Mostly with a silver ball, it seems.

Have a look at that teaser video for Smash It below and try to tell me you didn't feel a twinge somewhere inside of you. Watch that ball as it moves in slow motion through the panel, causing shards of glass to spread in all directions.

It's mesmerising chaos. That's what it is.

Despite the destructive nature of the game, Smash Hit will be an ambient, meditative experience. The juxtaposition of destruction and serenity here is sublime.

"We still have some work left, but this will be a truly unique game, from a technology, gameplay, and design perspective," Mediocre's Dennis Gustafsson. "It's by far our most ambitious project to date."

We've got a lot to look forward to, then, when Smash Hit, err, smashes onto iPad, iPhone, and Android in 2014.
