Back in April, a retro-style action platformer called Shovel Knight caught our attention when it was announced for 3DS during its Kickstarter campaign.

Shovel Knight since went on to accrue $311,502 (£190,358) and hit all of its stretch goals. Those include playable boss knights, a gender swap mode, challenge modes, New Game+, and four-player Battle mode (local multiplayer only).

You could say that you lot really dug it. Eh? Don't worry, I won't torture you with any more bad puns.

Instead, here is some exciting news for 3DS owners: Shovel Knight will be available early next year.

However, the stretch goal content won't arrive until sometime after the initial launch. It will be added to the game through free updates, if that's alright with you.

That's it for now, I'm afraid. Nothing ground breaking... sorry. Once a specific release date has been announced, we'll make sure you know about it.
