Liberation Maiden on iOS is a game that should be great on paper.

Take Suda 51's genius, combine it with a visual upgrade for iPhones and iPads, toss in some voice acting and challenging mech-based shooter combat a la Panzer Dragoon and you've got a winner, right?

Sadly, the answer is a mixed 'maybe' as we saddled Liberation Maiden with a 5 for its 3DS review and a 4 for the iOS version.

Many of our readers disagreed with our iOS verdict, however, and the game currently enjoys an average reader score of 8 which means that plenty of Pocket Gamer readers feel that it's worth playing.

If you've been on the fence about checking it out, now might be the time as the iOS version is currently available at a deep discount and will only set you back $1.99 / £1.49 for the full game.

This isn't a bad deal, considering it originally cost $4.99 / £2.99 - so if you've got some spare App Store credit lying around and feel like trusting our readers over our reviewer, you can nab Liberation Maiden on sale until January 5.
