Help Kickstart an iOS game about the 1979 Iranian revolution

1979 Revolution isn't your common App Store fare.

It's a game about the Iranian revolution of '79, told through the eyes of a fictional photojournalist caught up in the events.

And developer Ink Stories has begun a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to try and raise the $395,000 it needs to make the game.

If the campaign is successful, Ink Stories is aiming for a Spring 2014 release on iOS. Other platforms, including Android, are a possibility if the crowd funding push earns enough cash.

It's a personal project for creator Navid Khonsari, who left Iran in 1980, and has been labelled an American spy by the Iranian government for making the game.

1979 Revolution is a narrative driven adventure game broken into different chunks by a variety of different mini-games. You might have to perform triage on an injured friend, or take photos of a particular event.

Expect to make difficult choices as well, and look forward to a rich narrative presented in a gorgeous looking graphic novel art style.

There's archive footage of the real event included in the game too, and you can even compare the photos you take with those of Michel Setboun, who photographed both sides of the revolution.

There's a full voice cast, and a host of talent behind the game, with the team at Ink Stories boasting a collective CV that includes a raft of Rockstar titles, Apocalypse Max, and more.
